Anacamptis longicornu is a slender plant with a robust and dark purpurine stem, it can reach 30 cm.

The spike, rather loose, includes dark purpurine flowers with a very contrasted label, with folded lobes. The spur, very long, has inspired the plant name.

Blooming spread from March to beginning of May. This occidental mediterranean species is quite rare and nationally protected in France.
