Nazzareno Bonnici, known to one and all as Zaren tal-Ajkla, has added some colour to the 2017 election by launching his own campaign via a video that can be seen above.

Bonnici has become a welcome addition to the local political scene, providing some respite in what has developed into a tense affair between the major political parties.

In the last election, Zaren obtained only 47 first count votes for his Partit tal-Ajkla, but there is no doubt that he has many other followers.

Last time round, he had held a mass meeting in Zabbar which had attracted thousands, although these had not then been translated into votes.

But he has not given up, and is planning to hold a mass meeting in Ghaxaq on 14 May at 10am.
