Family Lamnidae

REMARKS Maximum length 400 cm. Not common, and probably not found at all east of the Adriatic.

CUISINE Provides good steaks, something like swordfish. A porbeagle shark was displayed at the Brompton Road branch of MacFisheries in 1968. It attracted general public attention: but it was the cognoscenti from the near-by British Museum (Natural History) who were quick to buy and bear off pieces of it.
