A species of stingray that can grow up to a width of 3 meters. Its head consists a pair of cephalic fins that derive from pectoral fins. Their cephalic fins are usually curled and looks like horns. They are similar to the Alfred manta and the giant oceanic manta ray in that they have cephalic fins, but in those species the mouth is located on the tip of its head whereas the spinetail mobula has its mouth located slightly lower on its underside.
