Striped Fish at the FADS (Pilot Fish)

Larkin

Question

Caught this striped fish out at 130m on the surface at the south Sydney FADs.

never caught one before - has bands of stripes - two white tips on the tail.

What fish is this? & is this good eating?

I have more photos if needed

Never eaten one (doesn't mean they are not good) but most of the ones I have caught are about half that size and I just toss them back. They will take just about any bait or small lure, but quite often they are just seen swimming slowly beside other big fish.

edit.....they are a very common fish, but not really caught that often, mainly because much bigger fish are the target (in my opinion) but if you find them around a FAD or other floating debris, they are easy to catch, and caught when fishing for Dolphin fish with bait.

edit......I just looked up the eating qualities, and it gets no "stars" so, either they are really bad, or no one has actually eaten one.
