Social housing block of 8 apartments and "modernised public space" for Tac-CawlaA regeneration project for the Tac-Cawla area in Victoria, will see the “modernisation of public space and an increase in social housing,” said Gozo Minister Clint Camilleri.

He explained that “the project is for a social housing block consisting of 8 apartments, while the major part of the project is intended to regenerate the public space so that the residents and families in Tac-Cawla have a larger and more adequate recreational area.”

Planning Authority permission for this work to be carried out was approved back in 2019 and eventually the calls for tenders were issued so that this work could get underway, the Minister said.

Minister Camilleri said that this project “will lead to those living in this area enjoying a public space that suits today’s times.”Social housing block of 8 apartments and "modernised public space" for Tac-CawlaThe Minister explained that “this holistic project will be carried out on an area of land of 3,750 square metres where 330 square meters, or rather less than 9% of the existing space will only be dedicated to social housing.”

He said that, “the rest of the space, that of three acres, will be generated as explained in the project with a playing field, outdoor gyms, recreational area with water features as well as extensive landscaping.”

In addition, this project will also be addressing the need to modernise and enlarge the existing football pitch by 150 square metres to 850 square metres so that it can be used better both for training sessions by the Victoria Hotspurs as well as the area’s residents, the Minister said.Social housing block of 8 apartments and "modernised public space" for Tac-CawlaCamilleri stressed that “the project ensures that not only will no trees be removed, but on the contrary both the trees in the area and an amount of bushes will be increased.
