Finding light for Date Palm in your home
Phoenix Dactylifera may have difficulty thriving, and will drop leaves 🍃, without ample sunlight.
Place it less than 3 feet from a south-facing window to maximize the potential for growth.
Select your region to see how the current weather in your area affects the placement of Phoenix Dactylifera in your home 🏡.
How to fertilize Phoenix Dactylifera
Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Phoenix Dactylifera after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

Spooky Mythology? There are many cultures that tie the slaying of lovers or spirits to the origin of some of our favorite plants! If any of you recognize this story and wanna educate me, or have any stories from their family or culture that are similar, please share! As it was told to me, the tapestry depicts the daughter of a tribe leader who loved a snake spirit. At night the tribe leader tricked the spirit and killed it, cutting off it's head. Distraught, the daughter buried the head and stayed by its side for years. Eventually the first palm grew from the head and she felt peace. Also threw in a pic of my tallest boi dressed as the snake palm. *Disclaimer: This tapestry was a gift that's exchanged many hands so I don't know if the story is accurate or where it's from. #greggetsspooky #storytimewithplants #halloweengreg #plantshelfie #plantmyth

It's too hot where I live (101°F) and my tree is not doing well because of it, I can't take it inside because it's too big and my cat would eat it I don't exactly know what to do here so any advice would be great #CanaryIslandDatePalm I've been trying to water it everyday because it has good drainage & it evaporates a lot

Turning brown and white We’ve had our Pygmy palm for two years now, it’s been really hot here in Arizona lately. The ends of the leaves are turning red/white but the roots are still a pretty green. Any advice?

The plant is declining day by day. I put it near the window so it receives maximum sunlight and try to keep the soil moist. Not sure what is going wrong. #PygmyDatePalm

We bought this guy from the nursery 2 months ago, the leaves are partly brown / red. Watering every 3 days for first few weeks then every other day for last few weeks, adding soil and fertilizer. What’s wrong or is this okay? #PygmyDatePalm
