A day after a video emerged showing people climbing the walls of a school in Tauru where the Class 10 examination of the Board Of School Education Haryana was being held to help students cheat, the district education officer said on Wednesday the Board chairman has sought a report of the incident.

The incident took place on Tuesday at Chandrawati School in Tauru where many people climbed the walls of the school while the Class 10 Hindi exam under the Haryana Board was being held.

“Action will be taken against any erring official if their role in helping students cheat in the exams is found. There are CCTV cameras on the premises and this would also be checked. The chairman will decide if the exam needs to be nullified and the centre sealed,” Paramjeet Chahal, DEO, said.

Chahal said they have sought a police force ahead of the next exam. “The centre holds exams for Class 10 and today, an inspection was conducted at the centre after we were informed of the incident, but no exam was being held there,” he added.

Meanwhile, the police said they inspected various schools on Wednesday. “During our visit, we saw a huge crowd on the premises of a Class 12 exam centre at MSD School, Tauru, and when we tried to disperse them, a 20-year-old tried to run away. We arrested the man and handed him over to the police station under IPC section 188. An FIR has been registered at Tauru City police station. We were ensuring that CrPC 144 was not being flouted,” Mukesh Kumar, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Tauru, added.

Kumar said eight motorcycles belonging to those in the crowd were also impounded.

Festive offer

The district collector had imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) near exam centres in the Nuh district to deter unauthorised individuals from entering these venues, and to order the closure of photocopy shops near them.

Last week, a student was arrested for leaking a question paper ahead of an exam by taking photos of it. The exam was cancelled after the incident, the DEO said.
