It started with the rebranding of Kalahariads in South Africa. And as was expected, OLX has now spread its tentacles to Sub-saharan Africa. This has led to the rebranding of the Naspers’ owned Dealfish to OLX in Nigeria and Kenya.
According to Naspers, OLX is a much bigger and more successful brand in its group of companies and a decision was taken to roll this brand across the different continents.
OLX is a free classified entity founded by Fabrice Grinda and Alec Oxenford in 2006. Fabrice works from New York while Alec works out of Buenos Aires, Argentina. In August 2010, Naspers invested in OLX. It currently owns 84% of OLX.
OLX boasts of a better platform and is backed by experts in different areas of the classified markets. It is expected that the transformation from Dealfish to OLX in Sub-Saharan Africa will greatly increase its performance in the African continent.
Welcome OLX, bye Dealfish.
