Go Inside Petrica Stefan’s Delusion
“He enthusiastically and passionately paints in oil colors. Strong brush strokes and an always surprising and fresh gestualism define his art. His paintings inspire force and vitality on one hand and grace and sensitivity on the other. The chromatic harmony of his paintings, along with his vivid imagination, define his works as very original.“ (Alexandru Gerdanovits, 2016)
Living in Timisoara, Romania-based Petrica Stefan is an emerging painter (b. 1988, Resita) with an MFA degree in Painting from the West University and exhibited solo a few times before being represented by 418 Gallery in 2014.
Petrica Stefan’s drawings are characterized by constructing a delusion of three-dimensional space by dots and lines on a two-dimensional surface. The strokes are confident which on one hand provide a digital sensation, yet leave diverse traces of hand-drawing techniques which give a raw feeling.
Without a concrete subject matter, audience could easily focus on the appreciation of the artist’s attention on the art of line illustration.
