Ben Smeriglio

Assistant Director of Sports Performance

Ben Smeriglio is in his second year as assistant director of sports performance at Old Dominion.
 
Smeriglio is the main assistant sports performance coach for football. He is primarily in charge of monitoring the injured and recovering athletes during lifting sessions.
 
He is also the primary strength and conditioning coach for the women’s lacrosse program.
 
Smeriglio came to ODU after working one season as an assistant strength and conditioning coach with the football program at Navy. During his time at Navy he also assisted with wrestling, women’s and the men’s lacrosse teams.
 
Prior to his time at Navy, Smeriglio worked for nearly a year as the head strength and conditioning coach for men’s and women’s track and field, softball, men’s and women’s tennis and women’s soccer at Howard. While with the Bison he also assisted with the football and men’s basketball programs.
 
His first full-time strength and conditioning position came at Emory and Henry College where he was in charge of 10 sports.
 
Smeriglio’s first job in strength and conditioning was as a graduate assistant at his Sacred Heart
 
He earned his degree in exercise science in 2016 from Central Connecticut State and earned his master’s degree from Sacred Heart in exercise science and nutrition.
