An Oklahoma man recently set a new state record.

The Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation said William Scott of Checotah reeled in a new skipjack herring rod/reel state record.

The catch weighed in at 3 pounds, 7.5 ounces, and came out of the Luke Eufaula tailwaters.

Scott also had a "near miss" on the Oklahoma striped bass record.

"It looks like we just need to leave him a set of scales and expect another call soon," the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation wrote on Facebook. "Way to keep on fishing, Will. Congrats!"
