Taxonomy: Fam. Boraginaceae// Genus: Cynoglossum// Species: Echium italicum L.// Subspecies: Echium italicum subsp. biebersteinii (Lacaita) Greuter & Burdet

Determined according to the botanical key provided in The Flora of the Republic of Macedonia (Matevski, 2010).

Distribution: Native from France to East Europe, Turkey to Central Asia (Kirgizstan) according to the distribution information provided by the Plants of the World Online portal.

Lifeform:  Biennial. The first year of the life cycle is vegetative, characterized with basal rosette formation. The second year is generative, characterized with stem formation, flowering, fruiting and senescence.

Habitat: Open habitats- grasslands, rocky terrains, disturbed ground, alongside roads, waste places.

Flowering period:  Summer: JUN, JUL.
