"This pizzeria's foundation and inspiration is the zero-mile all-Italian food," the guide says. "The flours, as well as some of the ingredients, are homemade."

"The style of pizza is clearly Neapolitan, with a slightly more pronounced crust than your typical Neapolitan pizza but without any exaggeration. The same principle of zero-mile products goes for the beers and wines, which come from small local producers."

Razza stands among pizzerias in Europe, the U.S., the Asia and Pacific, South America, and Africa on the Top 50 list. Several other American pizzerias are in that top 50. It's the first year Top 50 has done a worldwide list, though the site has ranked pizzerias outside of Italy for some years.

Guide curators Barbara Guerra, Albert Sapare, and Luciano Pignataro said the guide encompasses "many different styles of pizza" including the ever-popular Neapolitan style.

"The most important cities for pizzas in terms of quality are: Naples above all, then New York, Tokyo and SΓ£o Paulo," they said. " We are immensely satisfied because this journey around the world to capture the current pizza panorama was particularly rewarding.”
