RESPECT FOR DISTINCTIVENESS
It is in San Donaci that the modern wine reality of Masseria Spaccafico is located, a young winery strong in the tradition of its land and creator of a wide range of products, geared to meet all market needs, including through the cultivation of international grape varieties. But it is the great classics of the territory that are the stars, such as Nero di Troia, which offers a perfect cross-section of the terroir with all its peculiarities, a real pearl of Salento.

Intense ruby red color with purple highlights, it presents an authoritative and assertive nose of blackberries, blueberries and figs, floral notes of violet and peony along with wild hints of leather. In the background black pepper and balsamic trail. On the palate, softness caresses the palate while minerality refreshes it, creating a perfect balance; topping it all off is the right tannic value that accompanies a gentle fruity finish.

Try it with mixed grilled meat, barbecued cockerel or with meatballs with sauce.

The Winery

Paolo Leo's is the beautiful story of a family and its hard work that more than 30 years ago led it to introduce its first bottles to the market. The story of an inherited passion that today reaches the fifth generation of winemakers, united by their love for wine and for a land, Salento, that they have never abandoned. We are talking about a modern winery, with a 17,000-square-meter headquarters and 45 hectares of vineyards surrounding the ancient masseria where the progenitor Antonio Leo began, at the beginning of the 20th century, to make wine from his grapes. We are located in the heart of Salice Salentino DOP. Here the soils are predominantly clay and limestone, reddish in color, permeable to water, with more sandy areas and others with emerging rock. The strong sun exposure during most of the year, combined with the total absence of rainfall in summer and strong ventilation, means that the grapes can grow healthy without having to resort to synthetic treatments. Paolo Leo wineries offer an entire line of ICEA-certified organic wines that express a desire to protect the landscape and biodiversity of Salento. The vines are raised in the "alberello" style, which take advantage of the hot sun to sprout and at the same time cool the soil with the shade of their leaves. The two typical varieties of this area, Primitivo and Negroamaro, dominate among the rows, to which are added white and black Malvasia di Lecce, Chardonnay and Fiano. The clusters are meticulously hand-selected during the harvest and brought to the winery to be processed according to modern winemaking techniques. Thus are born labels that tell like few others all the beauty of the Salento terroir, from the great Classics such as "Battigia," "Calaluna," "Grecìa Rosè," "Ironico," "Limitone dei Greci," "Negramante" and "Passo del Cardinale," to the Top of the Range "Fiore di Vigna," "Numen" and "Orfeo," Primitivo di Manduria and Salice Salentino Riserva.
