PLANTS OF LONDON PLANE - PLATANUS ACERIFOLIA

You see it every day in parks and gardens in your city, yes, this imposing tree is the Shade plane tree!

It needs to be planted in very spacious places due to its large size and fast growth.

It is an incredible specimen that can reach 55m in height and has a long life span. With a large crown and curious chestnut green bark that peels off in flakes. Deciduous with large leaves lobed at the tip, very bright green in colour. Very small flowering. Striking globular fruits containing seeds with fine hairs.

They are a cross between Platanus orientalis L., native to south-west Asia, and Platanus occidentalis L., native to the Atlantic area of the United States.
