South of Tenerife, South of Gran Canaria, South, East and North of Fuerteventura (including Lobos), North of Lanzarote, and Chinijo archipelago (Graciosa and Alegranza).
Species characteristic of salt marshes that develop in salty depressions, where it can reach great development and withstand periodic flooding of brackish water. (Vice-Ministry of the Environment, 2009)
The census conducted in 2003 estimated the population in Lanzarote at 16,515 and in Fuerteventura 152,185 individuals plus 4,038 m2 occupied by the species, in Gran Canaria is not known in the locations mentioned. (Delgado MA, 2003)
