Attractive to pollinators
A Fleuroselect gold medal winner; bright pink. 1½ft (40cm)

We saw this growing in the supplier's trial beds and were instantly drawn to it, rather unusually for a bedding plant. The plants were smothered in the prettiest flowers creating a carpet of colour making us want to try it in the front of our borders. It can be overwintered in a cold greenhouse for early flowering or started from a spring sowing. Useful for containers and hanging baskets.

    Germination Instructions

Sow into a coldframe in autumn or early spring. Sow directly after danger of frost has passed. Surface sow onto moist, well-drained seed compost. Just cover seed with a sprinkling of soil. Cold frame sowings should germinate in spring as the weather warms. Direct sowings take 2-3 weeks to germinate. Cold frame seedlings should be transplanted to 8cm pots and grown on under glass, acclimatised and planted out after danger of frost has passed. Direct sowings may be thinned if required.

    Growing Instructions

Very easy to grow. Prefers any, even poor, soil in full sun. Will tolerate drought once established. Requires little attention.

    Cultivation Instructions

Will self-seed freely. Deadhead if you do not want volunteer seedlings next year. Pull and compost the plant after flowering ceases.
