Valentino Mazzola, father of Sandro Mazzola, was the heart and soul of the Grande Torino in the 1940s, a team I discuss in the “In Depth” section: clic here. An incredible, modern, eclectic, and versatile midfielder, physically powerful, he was an all-round player capable of performing in defense, midfield, and attack. A charismatic leader and a great motivator, he was a complete player and was sort of the Italian “Di Stefano,” albeit less technical.
