"Lady Fingers" Ice Plant | Lampranthus spectabilis
Lampranthus spectabilis makes a brilliant show of daisy-like flowers that range from pink to red, to magenta to purple, which measure 2” across. This trailing ice plant spreads horizontally, bearing blue-green evergreen leaves which can reach up to 3 inches in length. ‘Lady Fingers’ spreads vigorously to create an attractive carpet, but the stems can easily be clipped if they go too far in a given direction, and the cuttings replanted. Easy to grow, it is drought, heat, and salt tolerant, and deer and fire resistant. The flowers attract and are beneficial for bees and butterflies.
LIGHT: Full sun to part shade
SOIL: Adaptable to most soils, well-draining preferred
WATER: Low (water-wise)
The trailing stems are great for succulent gardens, rockscape edging, coastal areas, naturalized areas, and dune stabilizing. Perfect for containers or hanging baskets where they will attractively spill over.
Shipped plants are cuttings which have no soil, and may or may not have roots. The plant roots readily and is fast-growing.

Succulent Care
Succulents require well-draining soil, such as cactus mix. Allow your new plants to recover from shipping and adjust to their new home by providing bright, indirect light. Gradually transition into morning or dappled light, and into full sun within a space of weeks to months, depending on your climate.
Water fully, but allow the soil to dry completely between waterings. You can check for moisture by digging an inch into the soil with your finger. Lean toward under-watering, as succulents spring back readily from drought, but will rarely recover from rot.
For plant cuttings, you can check if the roots have formed by pulling the plant gently upwards. If you feel resistance, it is a sign that there are roots. Roots form in 4-6 weeks.
