Amara La Negra often shares on social media how tired she is because of her constant work schedule, and rightfully so. She just danced her way to second place on the Univision competition show ¡Mira quién baila!—already a rigorous commitment in itself—and balances her Love & Hip Hop: Miami filming duties with studio sessions for upcoming projects, as well as promoting her new children's book. Today, she released her first EP Unstoppable, consisting of tracks both old and new that speak to the artist's versatility and commanding presence.

Amara initially rose to fame in the Latin music market with songs that melded textbook Caribbean beats and varied Latin sounds. Unstoppable is an evolution of that aesthetic: La Negra explores a wide array of emotions over seven tracks, showing her depth both as an artist and as a person.

On "Celebra," the singer teams up with fellow Dominican hitmaker Messiah for an upbeat dance track that is meant to get listeners on their feet right out of the gate. "Balloons" maintains this same energy, with Amara inviting everyone to "shake their pum pum."

The EP's lead single "Insecure" was released nearly a year ago, and sees Amara reflecting on what lovers have told her and how they've affected her perception of herself—and with a danceworthy chorus, to boot. A number of other tracks also feature a spirit of longing that takes on a variety of forms, from the sentimental "Now That You're Gone" to the playful "Understanding."

Each track demonstrates Amara's growth as an artist, and the directions she's headed with her music in the coming year. Unstoppable, then, is a fitting title for the project: after kicking off 2019 with her debut EP, she now gets to look forward to releasing her debut album—complete with a Pitbull collaboration—and enjoy continued exposure on television. So when she becomes the name on everyone's lips, don't say she didn't warn you.
