Family
I really owe being here to my family, friends and especially my husband, Connor. My mom (Tracy), dad (Scott), and brother (Blake) have watched me run an ungodly amount of laps around the track and miles on the roads and cross country courses since I started running as a 12-year-old. If it weren't for them keeping me in check and encouraging me for the last 20 years, I wouldn't be able to be here today. My brother and his wife (Caroline) are also having a baby in April, which is so exciting! Proud wife brag: Connor started his own specialty contracting business in the commercial construction sector this past year, so it's been a big year on the home front! He makes life so fun and has brought such a fresh perspective to the whole running thing. We have a rescue mutt named Clyde, whom we love dearly.
Interesting Story
In 2016 I was set to compete in the Trials at 5,000m as a second-year professional. Instead of enjoying my first Olympic Trials experience, I was running around town trying to get X-rays, MRIs and answers for my extreme shin pain. This led to a diagnosis of a stress fracture in my tibia and a "DNS" next to my name. I watched from the stands. After leaving my training environment in Seattle in December 2019, I was excited to move back to sunny Arizona, start anew and gear up for a big 2020 Olympic year. I was set to debut in the half marathon in New York City in March 2020 and compete in the Olympic Trials in the 10,000m. We all know what happened next. Throughout 2020, I worked to keep my legs and heart in training and racing shape. I eventually decided to pour my efforts into my marketing career and personal life. After getting married in November 2021, I decided that I wanted to run a marathon before turning 30 in February 2022. After a 6-week training block, I competed in and won the Mesa Marathon under the alias of my new married name in 2:33:35. As most do, I caught the marathon bug and decided to give myself a real chance and complete a proper build for an OTQ. I PRed by over 4 minutes and ran a negative split at Grandma's Marathon, finishing 4th in 2:29:25.
