Bies (Demon)

From Slavic Legend, comes The Bies. This creature is often associated with The Devil. It predates Pagan custom as well. The beast is described as part bull, human and plant (or tree), The Bies lurks in the deep woods, forests and swamps of many Regions. They prey on wayward travelers or hunters (out too late). The Bies does not like religious articles, and often a simple Cross will protect one.
