Paola Suro

Paola Suro is a native of Puerto Rico and has lived in South America – Argentina, Chile, Panama, and Venezuela before moving to the United States. In the States, she has worked in Ohio, New York and most recently Georgia. She is a graduate of the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University.

“Paola brings extensive experience as a journalist as well as cultural knowledge having lived in multiple locations throughout South America. I am excited for her to join our news team here in Tampa Bay and to have her serve as a strong voice for our local Latino community,” said Mark Higgins, Vice-President and General Manager of WFLA News Channel 8, the CW Tampa Bay and SNN Suncoast News Network.

Suro has numerous accolades in her career as a journalist, which include: Emmy nomination for her story on the Impact of Roe vs Wade on the Hispanic community in Georgia; Emmy nomination for Breaking News Team Coverage (WXIA); one of the 50 Most Influential Latinos in Georgia (Georgia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce); one of the top 3 “Best Local TV Reporters” in Atlanta (Access Atlanta); member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ Atlanta Chapter); and member of Hispanic Young Professionals and Entrepreneurs of Atlanta.
